REV. NORMAN S. GREER, PhD., 57, pastor and educator, died June 18, 2011. Visitation will be Friday, June 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on T M Henderson Lane. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 25 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 918 Looney Ave. at Ayers. He leaves his wife, Viola Greer; three sons, Norman (Denise) Greer, Jr. of Covington, GA, Justin Greer of Chicago, IL and godson, Jamie Harrington of Snellville, GA; stepmother, Ruthie Greer of Chicago, IL; three sisters, Violet Meyers of Memphis, Glory Shered (Danny) of Sycamore, IL, Felecia Greer of Madison, WI; two brothers, James Blackledge of Memphis and Howard Greer (Eleanor) of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends N.J. My brother Norman S. Greer, passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2011, in Covington GA, after battling ALS.   Norman received both his Undergraduate and Masters degrees from Northern(NIU), Dekalb, Ill. and his Ph.D, from Southern Illinois (SIU), Carbondale, Ill. Norman taught Speech Communication at Northern (NIU), Bethel College, McKenzie,TN;University of Tennessee-Martin; SIU, (Carbondale; and Eastern Illinois(EIU), Charleston, IL. Norman retired in 2010. Norman Pastored for 20 years at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church,in Carbondale, IL.
