I had three best friends growing up in Harvey. Annette Mills-my very very best friend. Jennifer Floyd-my best friend and Teri Vroegindewey-my other best friend.

Teri has a place in my heart . . . always.

Years ago when I saw the movie Stand By Me I was so struck by the last lines and they are still so true:

Although I hadn't seen him for more than 10 years, I know I'll miss him forever.

I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I was shocked and saddened to read of Teri's passing. Teri got me in trouble more than once passing notes in French class. Teri was a big influence in my taking up the clarinet. Teri made the infamous phone call during a slumber party to (who would become) my first boyfriend AND first kiss during eighth grade. Teri and I placed first in band competition one year and Mr "B" had us play our duet in front of the whole band prior to competition (what an honor).

I remember Teri went to Blackburn College but I cannot find anything on Google or the college website to find out what happened to my very dear friend. I still have Teri's wedding picture.

Teri was also one of my best friends. We moved next door to the Vroegindeweys when we were in second grade at Whittier and became friends. Our houses were close enough to talk to each other from the windows - after we were supposed to be in bed. We had lost touch over the years. Her mom told me Teri had breast cancer and then was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I think of her so often, too. She was just such a nice person.

Toni Hope all is well with you. Think of you and Jennifer, too.
