Dorothy M. Kirtz, 53, of Highland Park, died August 24, 2007. Wife of Lester J. Kirtz Jr.; step-mother of Mary and Jaclyn Kirtz. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 E. Vine Avenue, Lake Forest. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2007, at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Interment Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste. 250, Dallas, TX 75244. "Dorothy was very successful in the inactive video industry through her accomplishments with Hallmark and John Deere. Those accomplishments led to operating her own successful video production company, Signature Productions. In addition, she became a public speaker on executive training, wrote and had published several articles related to that industry."

Dorothy and I became friends during out senior year. She and I had quite a few good times. We also worked briefly for the old Zayre's store. I knew great things were in store for her.

Dorothy and I were friends for a time early in our years at Thornton. We got assigned to collect attendance cards in the T-Building together during study hall. We had such a great time flirting with all the guys there! We had some good times together and I was sorry saddened to see her on the list of those lost to us.
